Mount Ida Mayor Jo Childress wants all customers of the Mount Ida Waterworks to know that city employees are working to restore water as soon as possible.
Reports of water outages, most located east of town along Highway 270, began pouring in yesterday, Thursday, February 18. Mayor Childress stated that currently all customers east of the Ranger Station, including the Mountain Harbor area, are out of water.
She stated that her crews were out last night looking for water leaks, but the excessive snow makes it difficult to locate leaks. They will continue to look for leaks, and they will be fixed as soon as the weather allows.
Mayor Childress would like to thank Bill Barnes and the people at Mountain Harbor for their help in trying to locate leaks in the system. Many of the properties located in the Mountain Harbor area are vacation properties and are not currently occupied. This makes it difficult to locate leaks in areas where no one lives.
Mayor Childress asks for your patience and understanding as they work through this unprecedented weather event.
If you would like to report a water leak please contact the Mayor’s Office at (870) 867-3541. You can also contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at (870) 867-3151.
