Mount Ida judging team gets off to a great start

The Forestry Team has led the Mount Ida FFA Judging Team as they start the competition season this spring.
The Junior Forestry Team won the Nevada County 4-H and FFA CDE Competition held February 11 with a score of 431. Eli McDowell led the team with 210 points, followed by Kaitlyn Bradford with 114 points and Kiera Stevens with 107.
The Senior Forestry Team finished in sixth place with 813 points. Ian McDowell led the Lions with 312 points, followed by Gracia Huitt with 266 points and Gage Pantel with 235 points.
The Forestry Team competed in the Pine Tree classic held at UA-Monticello on February 19. They finished in 2nd place with a score of 1102.
Ian McDowell was once again the high scorer with 379, followed by Gracia Huitt with 372, Gage Pantel with 351, Eli McDowell with 326, Katie Miller with 244, Kaitlyn Bradford with 220 and N. Huitt with 197 points.
Last week Mount Ida FFA competed in three events.
March 3 they competed in the Logan County Arkansas FFA Field Day.
The Forestry Team finished in 9th place with 574 points.
Gage Pantel scored 292 points and Gracia Huitt scored 282.
Mount Ida’s Horse Evaluation Team tied for 27th place with 478 points.
Lillie Booth amassed a score of 167, followed by Dakota Beechy with 162, Nicole New with 149, Alivia Dougherty with 134, Lilah Dillon with 130 and Emily Lewis with 95.
The Livestock Team finished in 45th place with a score of 378. Tyler Bour was the lone Lion.
The Poultry Team finished in 30th place with a score of 616.
John Sturch scored 318 and Aleea Rowland scored 298.
The Veterinary Science Team finished in 38th place with 371 points.
Tracy Efird scored a 220 and Callie Summitt scored a 151.
March 4 Mount Ida competed in the Centerpoint Arkansas Battle Royale CDE.
The Forestry Team finished 3rd with a score of 989.
Jacob Woodfield led the way with a score of 341, followed by Eli McDowell and Ian McDowell each with a score of 324. Gage Pantell scored 321, Gracia Huitt a 291, Katie Miller a 254, Kaitlyn Bradford a 224, N Huitt a 160, Ben Woodfield a 141 and Kiera Stevens 50.
The Wildlife Management Team finished in 6th place with a score of 1106.
Andy Black scored 337, Ally Young 279, Tyler Bour 256, Lane Nolen 234, Tirey Spier 212 and Beau Weston 210.
The Ag Mechanics Team finished in 15th place with a score of 450.
Tommy Thew scored 206, Clayton Lewis 97, Ramsey Gilbert 85, Payton Dorell 62 and Clayton Lewis 21.
The Dairy Team finished in 11th place with a score of 567.
Keira Ray scored 249, Paxton Spier 179, Blake Wooten 139 and Nicole Price 54.
The Farm Business management Team finished in 10th place with a score of 264.
Gracie Summitt scored 152 and Mikayla Ellison 112.
The Horse Evaluation Team finished in 16th place with a score of 519.
Lillie Booth scored 185, Emily Lewis 177, Nicole Thew 157, Alivia Dougherty 156 and Dakota Beechy 150.
The Poultry Team finished in 10th place with a score of 849.
John Sturch scored a 324, Aleena Rowland 322 and Jayden Gwinn 203.
The Veterinary Science Team finished in 21st place with a score of 477.
Tracy Efird scored 264 and Callie Summitt 213.
March 5 they competed in the Arkansas FFA Alumni Contest.
The Forestry Team finished in fourth place with a score of 930.
Ian McDowell scored 351 followed by Gage Pantel with a 291. Eli McDowell scored 288, Kaitlyn Bradford 142 and Kiera Stevens 87.
The Horse Evaluation Team finished in 15th place with 387 points.
Dakota Beechy scored a 203 and Lillie Booth scored 184.
The Poultry Team finished in 9th place with a score of 767.
John Sturch scored 403 and Aleena Rowland 364.
The Veterinary Science Team finished in 13th place with 589 points.
Tracy Efird scored 339 and Callie Summitt 250.
