Mount Ida Area Chamber seeking Volunteer of the Year nominations

“After a painful two year pandemic hiatus,” said Pat Smith, co-chairperson of the 2022 Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Community Banquet, “we are so excited to get back to normal.”
Scheduled for Thursday, April 21, 2022, the banquet will provide an opportunity to meet and greet candidates for county primary and school board elections and celebrate the Volunteers of the Year.
According to Smith, “Despite the number of years we have celebrated our volunteers there seems to be continuing supply of folk and businesses that go out of their way to make our county community better for residents and the economy.”
As usual, county residents get to nominate those individuals that reflect outstanding volunteer service to the public, as well as a commercial business and a non-profit organization that best reflects good business practices and work toward making Montgomery County a better place to live and work.
Nomination categories are Woman of the Year, Man of the Year, Non-profit of the Year, and Business of the Year.
Volunteer of the Year nominations are open March 16 through March 23. Ultimately the winning Volunteers of the Year will be announced at the banquet on April 21st The Lake Ouachita Baptist Church. Details about the banquet including speaker will be announced later.
Nominations will be accepted two ways.
Send an email to director@mtidachamber.com with your nominations. Please make the subject line VOLUNTEER NOMINATIONS, and simply state the category (for example Woman of the Year), name of the person/organization being nominated, and why your nomination is deserving of this award. You may nominate in all four categories on the same email message.
“The reasons for a nomination are important as they will ultimately be a part of determining the winners,” according to Smith.
If email is not an option, then nominations may be called into the chamber office, 870-867-2723.
Nominations will be open from March 16 – March 23.
Per Smith, after nominations close the top three nominees in each category will be published in the paper and on Facebook March 30th and voting will be open through April 8th.
Voting will follow the same pattern as nominations. Submit votes via email to director@mtidachamber.com or call into the chamber office.
“It is always special to learn the community’s outlook on the wonderful volunteers in our county,” Smith also said. “We encourage you to take the time to express your view now while it’s on your mind.”
