Lady Indians win 7-2A District Tournament title

HORATIO – The Caddo Hills Lady Indians defeated the Magnet Cove Lady Leopards 60-46 to win the 7-2A District Tournament. They will enter the 2A South Regional Tournament as a One Seed this week.
The Lady Indians entered the tournament as a Two Seed which gave them a free pass to the finals. They faced the Poyen Lady Indians. Caddo Hills ended the first period with a 17-16 lead. Poyen struggled with the Caddo Hills defense in the second period, scoring only five points to Caddo Hills’ 11 points.
Caddo Hills struggled in the third quarter and found themselves down by two points after Poyen went on a 16-8 run. Caddo Hills looked as if they would slip away with a win in the final quarter, but Poyen was able to force the game into overtime. The overtime period was the Morgan Caldwell show with Caldwell scoring all seven points in the extra period.

The Lady Indians faced Magnet Cove in the finals. Magnet Cove upset the One Seed Horatio Lady Lions to advance to the finals.
The first quarter was a high scoring affair with Caddo Hills emerging with a 14-13 lead. The Lady Indians seized control of the game in the second quarter thanks to a 14-5 run.
The third period was much the same with Caddo Hills outscoring Magnet Cove 19-8. The Lady Leopards was able to rally late with a 20-13 run, but was unable to steal the win. Caddo Hills won the game and the tournament by a score of 60-46.
The Caddo Hills Lady Indians will travel to Dierks for the 2A South Regional Tournament. They will play Gurdon in their first round match up Wednesday, February 23, at 4 p.m.
The Caddo Hills Indians will also travel to Dierks to play in the Regional Tournament. They enter as a Four Seed and will face Junction City Wednesday, February 23, at 8:30 p.m.
