Caddo Hills, Kirby advance in 1A-4 Regional Tournament

CADDO HILLS – First round match ups are finished and the 7-1A Conference advances two in the boys bracket and three in the girls. Both Kirby and Caddo Hills advance in the girls and boys brackets with Ouachita also advancing in the girls bracket out of the 7-1A Conference.

Wednesday night featured One versus Four Seed match ups.

The Emerson Lady Pirates were the first to punch their ticket for the state tournament with a 59-36 victory over the Blevins Lady Hornets. The leading scorer for Emerson was Lexi Pyle with 18. Camri Kirkham led Blevins with 19.

The first boys game of the regional tournament saw the Bradley Bears defeat Mountain Pine by a score of 64-32. Kenvodrick Harper led Bradley with 23 points. Trey Zander led Mountain Pine with 10.

The 7 p.m. girls game saw the first 7-1A school team advance with the Kirby Lady Trojans defeating Dermott 63-26. McKenzie Jones led Kirby with 18 points. Shamira Toney led Dermott with eight points.

The final game of the evening featured one of the most amazing 3-point shooting displays of the year as the Kirby Trojans rolled to a 71-35 victory over the Strong Bulldogs. Carter Turner hit five 3’s in the first period and nine total to lead Kirby in scoring with 27. Fred Williams led the Bulldogs with 10.

Thursday featured Two Seed versus Three Seed match ups. Caddo Hills Lady Indians and Indians tipped off the night with a pair of thrilling victories over Strong and Dermott respectively.

Caddo Hills jumped out to a 27-15 halftime lead and held on in the second half to win the game by a score of 42-35. Payton Powell led the Lady Indians with 12 and Capri Fogle contributed nine. Dynasty Davis led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points.

Caddo Hills Indians had their hands full with the Dermott Rams, but they were able to advance to the semifinals and the 1A State Tournament with a 65-63 win over the Rams. Connor KinCannon leads the Indians with 17 points, followed by Jarrett Runyan with 16. Zamar Ford.

The Ouachita Lady Warriors defeated Hermitage 66-52. Lizzy Rowton led Ouachita with 19. Cindy Wilkerson led Hermitage with 18.

Nevada wrapped up the first round with a 51-38 victory over Ouachita. Romulo Bogoni led Nevada with 13 points. Noah Dahlke led Ouachita with 14 points.

Emerson and Caddo Hills Lady Indians are starting things off Friday afternoon with a game at 4 p.m., followed by the Caddo Hills Indians versus the Bradley Bears at 5:30 p.m.

Kirby will face Ouachita in the late girls game at 7 p.m.and the Kirby Trojans will wrap things up at 8:30 p.m. with a game against Nevada.

All games will be played a the Caddo Hills gym.
