The Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC) and Lake Ouachita Baptist Church have partnered to distribute food boxes to needy families in Mount Ida Thursday, October 15.
CADC works to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty, to help vulnerable populations achieve their potential, and to build strong communities. One of their primary ways of helping communities is through food distribution such as the upcoming food box event. CADC serves a 19 county area in Arkansas.
They will be distributing nearly 10,000 food boxes that contain over 50 pounds of food in October and November. Contents include meat, flour and canned vegetables. The current COVID-19 crisis has only increased the need for help in communities in the CADC service area.
Food distribution began last week in De Queen and Ashdown and then Texarkana.
They will distribute food in Lonoke at the Lonoke Fairgrounds and Ward at the Old Waterworks Tuesday, October 13 before traveling to Mount Ida and Glenwood Thursday, October 15.
Lake Ouachita Baptist Church, located at 3586 Highway 270E near Mount Ida will be the host site for distribution in Montgomery County. Residents in Pike County can pick up food boxes at the Senior Adult Activity Center located at 229 Betty Street in Glenwood. Food will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All recipients must meet financial eligibility requirements and are asked to present a photo ID when they pick up their food boxes. Due to concerns related to COVID-19 all persons are asked to remain in their vehicles while picking up food boxes.
CADC will travel to Murfreesboro and Nashville Tuesday, October 20. Food boxes will be distributed at the municipal building (204E Main St., Murfreesboro) and the city park (1301 W. Johnson St., Nashville).
Thursday, October 22, they will distribute food boxes at Arkadelphia (Senior Activity Century, 1305 N. 10th St., Arkadelphia) and Prescott (Nevada County Fairgrounds, 115 Fairgrounds Rd., Prescott).
They will travel to Magnolia (Columbia County Fairgrounds, 200 Columbia Rd., Magnolia) and Lewisville (Lafayette County Fairgrounds, 1360 Highway 82, Lewisville) Tuesday, October 27.
They will be in Hope (Northside Park, 1709 N. Spruce St., Hope) Thursday, October 29 and Little Rock (Burns Park, 4400 Funland Dr., North Little Rock) Thursday, November 5.
Tuesday, November 5, CADC will be in Camden (Carnes Park, 955 Adams Ave., Camden) and El Dorado (Union County Fairgrounds, 1430 E. 19th St., El Dorado).
Thursday, November 12, CADC will be in Fordyce (National Guard, 101 S. Walnut St., Fordyce) and Hampton (First Baptist Church, 205 Dunn St., Hampton).
Finally they will travel to Benton (Saline County Fairgrounds, 406 Fairfield, Benton) and Malvern (Hot Spring County Fairgrounds, 1303 Collie Rd., Malvern) Tuesday, November 17.
