Sandlin kicks off Mount Ida Mayoral race

Derek Sandlin

Derek Sandlin has announced his intentions to run for Mayor of Mount Ida. His announcement is printed below.
My Name is Derek Sandlin and I am happy to announce my Candidacy for Mayor of Mount Ida.
I am 42 years old. I am a life long resident of Mount Ida. All of my adult life I have held positions of employment where I worked with the public in some capacity. Over the course of my working life I have been the low man at some places and someone with a management type role as well.
The past 2 years I have been employed at Ardot. I have learned a great deal about equipment maintenance, road maintenance and things the Mayor of Mount Ida should be familiar with.
For the past 5 years I have owned and operated one of the largest High School Fishing Tournament Organizations in Arkansas. I have dealt with people from all over Arkansas. I have learned about planning, organization, and dealing with a budget.
I have also been active in Mount Ida’s Youth Sports Programs as a coach for 6 years. I volunteer as the Announcer for Mount Ida High School Football. I am also a father of a 6 year old son.
I believe I am well qualified to be your next Mayor. I promise to be a Mayor who is courteous to our Citizens. I will always be organized. I will be a mayor that will be there for our Citizens and use the resources we have to best help our Citizens and the City of Mount Ida. I would take great pride in being the Mayor of Mount Ida for many years.
Mount Ida is my home. It always has been and always will be. I would truly be honored to be the next Mayor of Mount Ida. I hope to have your support next November.
