MOUNT IDA – Montgomery County Nursing Home and Rehab has reported that all residents are COVID-19 free as of Monday, October 5. There is currently one part-time nurse who is currently under quarantine after recently testing positive.

Nursing Home Director Tommy Johnston was optimistic about the most recent test results as the facility begins making plans to open to limited visitations as soon as it is safe to do so.

Nursing Home administration reported the first positive cases among residence August 17. The number of residents testing positive for the virus rose to 15 with 10 staff members testing positive at the same time.

At the time of the initial report Johnston stated that a quarantine area had been established and COVID-19 quarantine protocol was followed. The nursing home also instituted a new testing policy that provides facility-wide testing every Monday. Johnston shared that last Monday’s test results revealed that all residents are now virus free with one part-time nurse testing positive.

Johnston wants to thank everyone who offered prayers for the nursing home, its staff and him in this difficult time. He asked that everyone continue to pray for the residents and staff at the nursing home.

“I know prayer works and I covet your prayers daily.” Johnston stated.

He also stated that administration is working to start limited visitation as soon as they are able. CDC and ADH guidelines require the facility to be COVID-19 free for 14 consecutive days before visitation can begin. More details on visitation requirements will be shared as they get closer to the start date.
