Lady Indians advance to all 7-1A Final

CADDO HILLS – The Caddo Hills Lady Indians will get another shot at the Kirby Lady Trojans after the two teams advanced to the finals of the 1A Region 4 Tournament.

The Lady Indians opened the night with a 48-41 victory over the Emerson Lady Pirates, the One Seed from the 8-1A Conference. Caddo Hills tipped off the game with an impressive 18-14 run and wrapped things up with a 15-9 run in the fourth.

Senior Taylor Allen led the Lady Indians with 19 points. Teammate Jaci Vines hit four 3’s and scored 14 points. Cassidy Jones led the Lady Pirates with 12 points.

Kirby joined the Lady Indians in the finals with a 54-32 victory over Ouachita to set up a rematch of last week’s 7-1A District Tournament final in which the Lady Trojans won 40-31. Kirby scored 15 points in three of the four quarters Friday night against Ouachita to win the game going away. McKenzie Jones led the Lady Trojans with 17 points. Emily McBay led the Lady Warriors with seven points.

The men’s bracket will see an all 8-1A Conference final with Bradley and Nevada earning victories over Caddo Hills and Kirby respectively. The consolation game will feature a rematch of last week’s finals from the 7-1A District Tournament. Kirby won that game 69-55.

Caddo Hills got off to a good start against Bradley, pushing the Bears to a 17-17 tie in the first period. Bradley jumped out front in the second period with a 20-9 run and never looked back on their way to a 68-51 victory. Jonathan Easter and Allen Taylor each scored 22 to lead the Bradley Bears in scoring. Connor KinCannon scored16 lead the Indians in scoring. Keegan Williamson hit three 3’s for the Indians.

Nevada was able to close out the night Friday with a 55-52 upset over the Kirby Trojans. Kirby held the lead through most of the game, but a 20-8 rally by the Blue Jays in the fourth earned them the 55-52 win and a spot in the finals. Dontavious Watts led the Blue Jays with 14 points. Christian Miller led the Trojans with 21 points.

Emerson and Ouachita will play Saturday, February 29, in the Women’s consolation game at 12 p.m. and Kirby and Caddo Hills will play 1:30 p.m. in the Men’s consolation game.

Kirby and Caddo Hills will play at 6 p.m. in the Women’s finals and Bradley and Nevada will play at 7:30 p.m. in the Men’s finals.
