Friday accident claims life of Montgomery County man

An accident in Garland County claimed the life of a Mount Ida man while leaving several others injured.

According to a preliminary report posted on the Arkansas State Police website, Billy Charles Pierce, age 82 of Mount Ida, was driving a 2017 Buick was driving westbound on Highway 270 Friday, May 15. At approximately 8:05 p.m. Pierce’s vehicle crossed the centerline and side-swiped two other vehicles, a 2016 Dodge and a 2007 Ford. After the collision the two eastbound vehicles left the highway into the ditch.

Three passengers in Pierce’s vehicle were reported injured, as was the driver of the Dodge and three individuals riding in the Ford.

Injured were transported to CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs.

Pierce was pronounced deceased on scene of the accident.

Weather conditions were listed as rainy and road conditions were reported as wet.

Trooper Ryan I. Wingo was listed as the reporting officer for the Arkansas State Police.
