A group of local volunteers will be hosting a Keep Arkansas Beautiful clean up event on Lake Ouachita Saturday, September 25 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Volunteers will gather at the Tompkins Bend Day Use Area located on Shangri-La Road East of Mount Ida.
The event is hosted by the Friends of Lake Ouachita (FOLO) and the US Army Corps of Engineers and Keep America Beautiful and Keep Arkansas Beautiful.
Water, hand sanitizer and trash bags will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, grabbers, bug repellent and sun protector. Restrooms will be available on the premises.

This event is an easy way to make a difference in your community. Picking up trash around Lake Ouachits can be a great opportunity for the whole family to participate in a worthwhile volunteer effort. It is also a great chance for local groups and friends to work on a service project that benefits their community.
Volunteers can use their boat, mountain bike or take a hike while cleaning up around the lake. Trash that is picked up is left on the boat ramp and will be picked up and hauled away.
