Mount Ida selects new superintendent

MOUNT IDA – The Mount Ida School Board voted to hire Tristan Knoedl as the new superintendent of Mount Ida School District. He will replace Mike White who will return to coaching in the 2022-23 school year.
Knoedl comes to Mount Ida from Ouachita School District where he served as high school principal beginning in 2018. While serving as principal at Ouachita High School they were ranked among the best high schools in Arkansas by the U.S. News and World Report in 2020 and 2021. They were also ranked as an Arkansas “A” school and received an award for best growth scores in English language arts in 2019. They received an award for best growth scores in math in 2018 and the school also received the Greatschools.com College Success Award in 2021.
Knoedl also served as athletic director at Ouachita School District.
His first administrative position was as assistant principal at Rison High School from 2016-18. He began his educational career as a coach at Rison High School from 2009-2016. He coached girls track while serving as assistant football coach.
Knoedl was hired during a special called meeting Thursday, February 24, at the high school. School Board President Phillip Carr stated that several resumes were submitted and Knoedl was chosen from six applicants who interviewed with the boardmembers.
He will begin as the district’s new superintendent July 1, 2022.
