Montgomery County remains free of confirmed COVID-19 cases as the state of Arkansas’ cumulative total of confirmed cases rises to 1,410 at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, April 13.
Numbers in Montgomery County have not changed with reports still reflecting 18 negative test results and no confirmed cases. They are now one of four Arkansas Counties free of a confirmed case. Jackson County is the most recent to report their first confirmed case.
Locally, all counties bordering Montgomery County have had at least one confirmed case.
Among bordering counties, Garland County reports 101 confirmed cases. They have 1132 negative cases with 28 recoveries, followed by Clark County remains steady at 26 confirmed cases. They have 47 negative cases and 12 recoveries.
Hot Spring County has eight confirmed cases with 131 negative cases. Polk County has six confirmed cases with 127 negative tests results and three recoveries. Howard County reports nine confirmed cases wit 36 negative results with three recoveries.
Pike County reports two confirmed cases with 194 negative test results and one recovery. Yell County has one confirmed case with 90 negative test results.
Scott County reports one confirmed case and four negative tests.
As of 1:30 p.m. there were 1,410 COVID-19 cumulative cases in Arkansas, there have been 391 recoveries, and 30 deaths.
Dr. Nate Smith reported that there were 139 new cases in the last 24 hour period. This is the largest increase for any single day since the Arkansas Department of Health began tracking cases.
Governor Asa Hutchinson announced that there were 36 positive cases reported in the Federal Correctional Facility in Forest City. This includes 35 prisoners and 1 contractor. There are currently 43 confirmed cases at the Arkansas Department of Corrections Cummins Unit.
During today’s press conference the Governor urged people to remain vigilant. He stated that now is not the time to let up or decrease social distancing, use of masks, or stop avoiding large groups.
Dr. Smith was announced as the head of a special advisory board called the Medical Advisory Board Post Peak.
Dr. Smith also stated that summer camps may not be allowed to operate this year and that a decision would be made later. He added that at this time it seems unlikely they will be able to operate.
