Rowton, Lions earn Top 5 finishes at 1A state golf tournament

FAIRFIELD BAY – Karter Rowton shot an 86 to lead the Mount Ida Lions to a Fourth Place finish in the Class 1A Boys State Golf Tournament held in Fairfield Bay.
Rowton finished in fourth place individually as well behind Max Gipson of Greers Ferry Westside (75), Manav Perfecto of Lead Hill (81) and Hogan Little of Shirley (83).
Ramsey Gilbert was the second best Lion with a score of 110, followed by Cain McCullough who shot 111 and Lane Nolen who shot a 130. The Lions finished in fourth place with a score of 297.
Taylor High School won the team state title with a score of 282. Greers Ferry High School and Shirley High School finished in a tie for second place with scores of 283.
Jake Swanson represented Kirby High School in the 1A state tournament, shooting a 135.
