The Arkansas Department of Health has lifted a boil order in effect for the Norman Waterworks Department since the end of June.
The boil order was originally issued by Kenn Greene for the entire Norman Waterworks System. The reason listed for the boil order was the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of the partial loss in normal system pressure.
The entire Norman Waterworks System was without water for several hours Sunday, June 28, while the Glenwood Waterworks Department worked on a broken line just south of Caddo Gap.
The boil order was a precautionary measure to ensure the health and safety of waterworks customers while water levels were being tested.

The ADH lifted the precautionary boil order Friday, July 17. The ADH release stated that recent bacteriological samples were found to be safe and contained satisfactory levels of disinfectant throughout the distribution system. The ADH release deemed the water safe for human consumption.
