Mount Ida seniors to walk May 14

The Mount Ida Lions Class of 2021 will graduate Friday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. The decision to set a date for the upcoming graduation ceremony was made Monday night during the regular scheduled school board meeting.
Superintendent Mike White, who attending the meeting via phone call, told the board that the May 14 is the day the Arkansas Activities Association has set for the semifinals of the State Baseball Tournament. He added that AAA has promised to do their best to work the tournament schedule around graduation ceremonies.
In other business:
The board approved four student transfers into the district.
The board voted to retire a list of fixed assets.
The board approved a list of salary increases according to Act 1120 requirements. The board clarified that this was not a raise for teachers, but is merely reporting any raise received on new contracts that are more than five percent above their previous salary. They cited overtime, or the earning of advanced degrees as reasons for these raises.
The board approved a minority teacher and administrator recruitment plan for the 2020-21 school year.
The board approved emergency COVID-19 leave policies for both licensed and classified personnel.
The board approved employee and board member disclosures.
The board approved the general operating budget.
The board approved the special education department budget.
The board approved federal programs assurances.
The board scheduled the annual public meeting for Monday, October 13, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.
