ARKADELPHIA, ARKANSAS — Mount Ida and Glenwood are both represented in this year’s Henderson State University Homecoming. Emily Burkholder of Mount Ida and Joce Mount of Glenwood are among the homecoming royalty candidates this year.
Homecoming activities at Henderson State University begin Oct. 13 when the Reddies student body begins voting for Henderson’s 2021 homecoming royalty. Twenty-two students are nominated for the homecoming court.
The 10 finalists will be announced Oct. 14 during the annual homecoming pep rally and bonfire. The court will be introduced and the crowning will take place during football pre-game festivities on Oct. 16 when the Reddies host Harding University.
The 2021 homecoming royalty candidates are:
Emily Burkholder
Burkholder is a senior Integrated Studies major from Mt. Ida, and is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha. She is the acting president of Alpha Sigma Alpha, a member of Psi Chi, and volunteered with the Special Olympics, the Polar Plunge, and the Miracle League
Morgan Daniel
Daniel is a junior Fashion Merchandising major from Arkadelphia, and is sponsored by Sigma Tau Gamma. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha.
Baylee Barton
Barton is a junior Elementary Education major from Hot Springs, and is sponsored by the All Greek Council. She is the vice-president of Alpha Xi Delta and the National Panhellenic Council, as well as a member of the Diamond Dolls, and BCM, while also working at the Rec Center.
Carrington Furlow
Furlow is a senior Aviation Management major from Camden, and is sponsored by the Reddie Ambassadors. She is a Reddie Ambassador and a member of Gamma Beta Phi, the Ladies League, the Black Student Association, and a mentor in the OBU Upward Bound program.
Kirby Smith
Smith is a senior Health and Physical Education major from Hope, and is sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta. She is a member of the Reddie Cheer Team, Gamma Beta Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, Alpha Chi, and Alpha Xi Delta.
Chance Wallingsford
Wallingsford is a senior Nursing major from Sheridan, and is sponsored by the Student Nursing Association. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Nursing, the Student Nursing Association, and has volunteered with Reddie to Serve.
Sydney Stiener
Steiner is a senior Nursing major from Conway, and is sponsored by the Henderson State University Diamond Dolls. She is the vice-president of the Senior Nursing Class, secretary of Alpha Sigma Alpha, president of the Diamond Dolls, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Nursing.
Rheannon Howell
Howell is a junior Journalism major from Atlanta, Texas, and is sponsored by Tau Beta Sigma. She is a drum major for the Showband of Arkansas and the historian for Kappa Kappa Psi.
Joce Mount
Mount is a Middle Level Education major from Glenwood, and is sponsored by Phi Lambda Chi. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, a worship leader for BCM and has participated in Henderson Halloween and Reddie to Serve.
