The Mount Ida Area Chamber of Commerce is excited about the upcoming World Championship Crystal Dig to be held September 25 and 26 at Twin Creek Crystal Mine and the inaugural year of the Three Rivers Heritage Festival.
Twin Creek Crystal Mine will once again play host to the world championship crystal dig with diggers able to dig in either the upper or lower mine. The change in dates should provide warmer temperatures this year as diggers take to the mine.
The Three Rivers Heritage Festival will offer something for everyone. The festival will feature live demonstrations, history, activities, a car show and all types of vendors, including mineral and gem vendors.
The new festival will replace both the Good Ol’ Days Festival previously held Memorial Day weekend and the Quartz, Quiltz and Craftz Festival held the second weekend in October.

Chamber representatives explained that the change in their festival schedule comes after months of conversations with vendors and attendees. While the Chamber is appreciative of all the great memories made over the years at the Good Ol’ Days and QQC Festivals, it is time to grow and offer something new.
The Three Rivers Heritage Festival hopes to take the best of both of the older festivals and build upon them. Details are still being worked out and more information will be shared as things are finalized.
Vendor applications and digger forms are not yet available. They will be posted on the Mount Ida Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page as soon as they are available.
The next event for the Chamber of Commerce will be their annual Chamber Banquet to be held April 16 at the Lake Ouachita Baptist Church.
Everyone is encouraged to nominate your choices for Woman of the Year, Man of the Year, Business of the Year and Non-profit of the Year Awards. Nominations are being accepted through March 16. You can pick up a nomination form at the Chamber office, or you can make your nominations by email to director@mtidachamber.com. Please make the subject line in your email VOLUNTEER NOMINATIONS.
