On Monday October 11, 2021, Regent Cortez James Copher, representing the James K. Polk Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, honored Montgomery County law enforcement officers during DAR National Day of Service. Each year on or near October 11 and throughout the month of October, DAR members celebrate the National DAR Day of Service to honor the founding of Daughters of the American Revolution on October 11, 1890. On behalf of the James K. Polk Chapter in the Mena area, Cortez delivered a basket of pre-packaged snacks, water, large box of small packaged chips, and a case of hand sanitizer to the law enforcement officers at the new Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office . The chapter wanted to show their appreciation to the men and women of our community for upholding the law, protecting our community and, and saving lives. Law enforcement officers protect citizens and respond to calls for help while not knowing what challenges they may face. It takes a very special person to put your life on the line every day to protect your community.

The following is a message from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office:

“Our new courtroom and jail complex is now open and fully functional! We have completed our move from the old facility to our new location at 225 Fairgrounds Road, directly across from the fairgrounds. We appreciate the new facility, and are light years ahead of where we were in the old facility. Our technology has been updated to allow us to be on top of all the new systems we now have available. We would like to thank the community for your support and patience while we transitioned to our new location, and are proud to serve the people of Montgomery County. We also want to say thank you to the Daughters of the American Revolution for their support and dedication to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. We are proud to be a part of such a great community.”
